# the token

There is a token.

## $LASHAE

**Contract address**

```
4bbnsfFWCpD1jpmhaMmmZs5C1fqyeD7LokoXMdYopump
```

Copy it carefully. Verify it before you trade it. The field is full of mirrors.

## what the token is for

$LASHAE is a **marker of presence** in the field. It is not required to use LASHAE. It is not a governance token. It is not a payment token for trails, footprints, or blessings. It is not a membership card.

It exists as a **membrane** — a way for walkers to hold a piece of the field without being inside the app.

## what the token does not do

* it does not give you more blessings
* it does not unlock pilgrims
* it does not speed up trails
* it does not make your footprints more true
* it does not vote on the protocol

The token does not make you a better walker. Only walking does that.

## why it exists

The field is a quiet place. The token is a noise that points back at the quiet. It is a single address, a single symbol, a single way to say: *I was here.*

Use it if you want to. Ignore it if you want to. The walking does not change either way.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://lashae.gitbook.io/lashae-docs/the-protocol/token.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
